Praying for Sun

Man, was the weather gorgeous last week! I'm currently sitting at home as it rains and pours. I'm grateful, however, that my home isn't flooded like so many homes in the area. Many of my friends have had to evacuate their homes. Hundreds of roads are closed, as are all the schools and many businesses. My thoughts and prayers go out to those whose homes are underwater.

In the meantime, I'm praying for sunny days again.

Weekly Randoms #3

This week has been filled with beautiful walks, fun with friends, and stunning sunsets. Grateful that God has given me a beautiful life.

Looking Sharp

dress: bought from a friend
tights: Target
wedges: TJ Maxx
watch: Kate Spade
scarf: Rachel brought it back for me from Singapore!

Guess who discovered the sharpen feature in photoshop this week? I think I may have overdone it a bit (or a lot) in these photos, but I kind of like the outcome.

I'm so grateful that the longer days allow me to take photos during the magic hour! Over the last year, I've really learned to love the last hour of sunlight as I've experimented with my camera. Mom and I have been taking walks the last few days after work, and I'll be sharing some of the photos we took. The light has been absolutely gorgeous! I want to go out with my tripod soon and play around with taking some outfit photos. (I guess--since I'd be taking them myself--they'd be selfies?)

I took these a few weeks ago with the tripod and remote. One thing I need to do is experiment with different angles and distances in order to get a greater variety of shots. If you know of any fashion bloggers who have exception photos, please give me their blog names! I'd love to take a peek at their photography style!

Living Life

dress: Dainty Jewells
cardigan: TJ Maxx
tights: Claire's
shoes: Belk

Today I:
  • Forgot to push "Submit" on my Starbucks app, which I didn't realize until I showed up to Starbucks and there was no coffee waiting for me.
  • Made my own coffee drink at work with coffee, milk, chocolate syrup (we keep it for ice cream emergencies), and ice. And I survived without my Starbucks.
  • Took a nap outside in a hammock.
  • Ate a ridiculous amount of yummy stuff (brownies, mac and cheese, cheeseball, bacon, blackberries, sour cream and onion wavy chips, and Smores).
  • Cuddled with Oxford. (Until he ran off to take care of very important business--i.e. barking at the neighbors.)
  • Blogged!
Perhaps the last one was obvious without my mentioning it, but it's really quite exciting. I've been giving so much of myself to other people (which I love!), but sometimes I need to sit down and do something for me. And here I am!

Earlier I was browsing Pinterest and kept running across articles about Making Your Blog Better, and they were inspiring. I love to read those kinds of articles--it makes me want to blog, which means they totally do their job! I still have lots of work to do around here--I'm none too happy with my current header (it was an experiment in Illustrator, which I'm new at), and I'd love to make some custom buttons. One day I'll get there.

I've been trying to schedule myself a date with myself at Starbucks some Saturday to do some blog work and photo editing, but then I keep volunteering myself for things! I'm totally loving it, though. Life is fun, and I'm enjoying every bit of it.
