Things I Love: Valentine's Day Edition!

It's Valentine's Week! My favorite time of the year. I love how the world turns into pink and red. There are hearts and chocolate and strawberries. And pink. Did I mention pink?

Valentine's Day is my aesthetic. We are currently painting a bathroom pink, and I think that proves it pretty well.

Despite the fact that it's my favorite holiday, I like to celebrate low key and simple, preferring to stay home instead of go to a restaurant. However, this year the Mardi Gras parade is Valentine's Day evening, so we will walk downtown to enjoy it! Normally, I just like to stay in and eat dinner and maybe watch a movie in my PJs with mi amor.

Here are a few things I love about this time of year!
Drinking tea in a happy pink mug. I just picked up a new mug at Target the other day that says mi amor. I asked Casey if he knew what it meant because it's the only nickname I ever call him (though I rarely use it). He said, "No. Sometimes you just speak Spanish and I don't know what you mean." (For the record, I majored in Spanish.) I sure love this little mug though. And it's microwave safe! Woo hoo!

Cute hand towels. I always have a hand towel hanging in the kitchen, and I love to change them with the season. I got a cute cat one for Valentine's Day! (I also just picked up some Easter ones today...)

Making chocolate covered strawberries. It's so much cheaper to make chocolate covered strawberries than it is to buy them! I used almond bark to coat them, which I prefer to chocolate chips. I made a dozen for about $5 in less than 15 minutes! (And I still have more strawberries and almond bark, so I'll probably make more later this week!) And since you have the chocolate already melted, it's super fun to go through the pantry and find more things to dip in chocolate! Which is why I have chocolate dipped marshmallows and potato chips.

Wearing festive clothing. I always wear pink and red and hearts the week of Valentine's Day! I'm hoping to get Casey to wear his matching suit tomorrow. I think I need to get Valentine's themed pajamas as well.

Pink everything. Can you tell that I really love pink? Pink sprinkles on my hot chocolate, pink clothes, pink mug, pink bathroom. Thankfully I'm married to a guy who is man enough to like pink! Pink is my happy color. It makes me smile to wear it and surround myself with it. No wonder I love this time of year so much!
